How the Taiwan Receipt Lottery Works | 🇹🇼 Taiwan Vlog
How does Taiwan receipt lottery work?
Better yet; what is the Taiwan receipt lottery?
In Chinese, it's translated to 同意發票 (Tǒngyī Fāpiào).
The receipt lottery was set in motion to encourage legal tax reporting by giving us an incentive to purchase at stores that legally report sales taxes. In 2 month increments, Sets of numbers are drawn. To win; you must match the numbers drawn.
The receipt lottery is open to everyone, including foreigners, and can be exchanged for prize money at convenience stores with proof of identification (for amounts up to 1,000). Larger winners must be redeemed at banks.
You can store receipts digitally if you used an Easycard for your purchase, which may be then verified and redeemed by using a terminal at participating convenience stores.
If you're lucky enough, it's a great way to get some free money buying what you usually buy. Could take 1 receipt; could take 1,000.
Best of luck to anyone who actively saves their receipts in Taiwan!
